أَعْمِدَةُ الحَفْرِ هِيَ أَنَابِيبُ فُلَاذِيّةٌ ذاتُ جِدَارٍ ثَقِيلٍ مُصَمّمَةٌ لِتَوْفِيرِ الْوَزْنِ وَالثّبَاتِ لِسَلْسَلَةِ الحَفْرِ. وَتَكْمُنُ وَظِيفَتُهَا الْأَسَاسِيّةُ فِي تَوْفِيرِ وَزْنٍ كافٍ عَلَى أَدَاةِ الحَفْرِ لِتَقْطِيعِ طَبَقَاتِ الْأَرْضِ. أَنَابِيبُ الحَفْرِ ، مِنْ نَاحِيَةٍ أُخْرَى ، أَخَفٌّ وَأَكْثَرُ مَرُونَةً ، مُصَمّمَةٌ لِحَمْلِ سَائِلِ الحَفْرِ وَنَقْلِ الْعَزْمِ إِلَى أَدَاةِ الحَفْرِ.

مُدخَل غِلاف الحَفْرِ يَجْسُرُ الْفَجْوَةَ بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْعُنْصُرَيْنِ ، وَيَعْمَلُ كَقِطْعَةِ انْتِقَالٍ. وَتُصَنّعُ هَذِهِ الْمُدَاخِلُ عَادَةً مِنْ فُلَاذٍ عَالِيِ الْقُوّةِ ، وَتَتَمَيّزُ بِخِطٍّ ذَكَرِيٍّ فِي نِهَايَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ يَتّصِلُ بِأَنْبُوبِ الحَفْرِ ، وَخِطٍّ أُنْثَوِيٍّ فِي الْنِّهَايَةِ الْأُخْرَى يَتّصِلُ بِغِلافِ الحَفْرِ.

اتّصَالَاتٌ مُتَخَصّصَةٌ: تُصَمّمُ بَعْضُ الْمُدَاخِلِ بِأَنْوَاعٍ مُعَيّنَةٍ مِنَ الْاتّصَالَاتِ ، كَاتّصَالَاتِ A.P.I. أَوْ التّصَامِيمِ الْخَاصّةِ ، عَلَى حَسَبِ الْمُعَدّاتِ الْمُسْتَخْدَمَةِ فِي عَمَلِيّةِ الحَفْرِ.
